The vast majority of citizens here in Australia always try to stay on the correct side of the law and so they pay attention to the rules and regulations that apply in their local area and they try to stick to them whenever possible. Many of us would be guilty of small law infringements like parking where we shouldn’t and maybe even doing a little bit of fly-tipping as well. In general though, we know and understand that staying on the right side of the law affords us a more comfortable life so that we are not always looking over our shoulders every time we leave our properties or we are inside our homes.

The unfortunate thing however is that even though you’re not looking for trouble, trouble sometimes finds you anyway. If you get yourself involved in an altercation sticking up for your partner or friend, you could find yourself having to deal with the police and specifically the law courts. You could be taken up for common assault even though you’re doing the noble thing and standing up for someone who could not stand up for themselves. This is a situation that you do not want to find yourself in and so the following are just some of the top tips to help keep you on the right side of the law.

  • Don’t associate with criminals – This seems to be a no-brainer and yet you would be surprised at the number of people who like to hang around with the bad boy or girl because it is a lot more exciting. They have great skills in drawing you into something that you are not aware of until it’s too late and then you find yourself being arrested by police officers something that you have no idea that you were doing in the first place. Many people say that if you show me your friends then I can tell you what can of person you are and this is very true.
  • Fill up your free time – If you have too much free time on your hands then you need to find a new hobby that will keep your mind occupied and help keep you out of trouble. If you don’t have a job to go to and it’s likely that you lack some kind of mental stimulation and television just doesn’t do it for you anymore. You need to go out of your way to find new interests that can keep you on the right side of the law while also increasing your knowledge.
  • Give yourself a second chance – If you have fallen foul of the Australian law before then this doesn’t mean that you have to continue on with this path. You have no problem giving other people a second chance so why not give yourself one as well. There is always a chance for a new beginning and it is up to you whether you want to grasp it or not.

If you follow these three simple rules then there’s no reason why you should have to ever get in trouble with the law in the first place.
